Meet Valerie Wallace!

We are excited to introduce Valerie Wallace our new Director of Finance who started on Monday! Originally from Liberia/West Africa, Valerie lived in Chambersburg, PA for 10 years. Valerie holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Shippensburg University and A Master’s of Science in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. Prior to joining Westminster’s team, Valerie worked with different churches as an Accounting Manager, VBS volunteer, Sunday School Volunteer, Member of the Endowment Committee, Worship Lead/Singer, and her most recent position with Park Avenue UMC as Office Manager. Valerie and her husband Melvin have been married for 13 years. Melvin is an Rn.BSN graduate of Widener University. They are blessed with two daughters: Michelle 10 and Jordan 8. They also have a pet Charles (a toy poodle). During her spare time, Valerie enjoys time with her kids. One of her favorite things to do is making music with her daughters. They enjoy practice sessions singing and dancing to familiar tunes. Valerie recently recorded an album titled “in awe of you” published in April 2021.

Mac & Cheese and Pasta & Rice Side Dishes for the WCFC

The West Chester Food Cupboard provides a variety of food and nonperishable items to those in need. In August we are collecting Mac & Cheese, pasta & rice side dishes. Donations can be left in a marked bin under the front portico or indoors in the black collections bins.

Youth Matter Signs

In partnership with West Chester Communities That Care, the Youth Vision Team has yard signs for congregants to place in their yards. Signs will be available after each worship service outside by the main church entrance. Take a sign to let the young people in your neighborhood and community know that they are celebrated and valued by their neighbors!

Nursery Care Opens This Week!

This Sunday we will open our nursery for the first time, for children ages 3 and younger. Because we have a limited number of workers, please email Nancy Brink if you are interested in childcare this Sunday or next Sunday (July 18 and 25).

Join the Summer Choir July 18 & 25!

Have you missed singing? We would LOVE to have any extra singers join us for the next two Sundays. Join the summer choir (as long as you have had your vaccination) during 9:00am traditional worship. Just show up and we will have music for you. We will meet in the sanctuary at 8:15 am to warm up and go through the music. Questions? Contact Bob Morris.

Presbyterian Women's Bible Study

All women are welcome to join a 2021-2022 PW circle this fall! The study this year is entitled What My Grandmothers Taught Me: Learning from the Women in Matthew’s Genealogy of Jesus. Westminster has three groups doing this Bible Study concurrently; each meets once a month. Monday's group will be a hybrid [in person at the church and zoom]. Tuesday group meets at Maris Grove. Wednesday group meets at the church. Contact Sandy Liddick for more info, questions or to order your book by July 31.

Fill Out Our Congregational Worship Schedule Survey

In September we will continue with two morning services of worship – one traditional, one contemporary. We are very open to adjusting times AND the order of services to best accommodate the most people but we need your honest input on when you WOULD attend your worship of choice (and by implication, what times you would NOT attend a particular service!). Please check any of the times you would definitely attend Sunday morning worship if that was the only time that style was offered. If you do not have a worship style preference, check times for both styles. If you would definitely NOT attend a particular event (e.g. Journey class, KidsConnect, Traditional Worship) simply leave those boxes unchecked.

Volunteers Needed to Connect with a College Student

The Equipping our Emerging Generation (EEG) team is kicking off another year of the College Connection Program, and needs volunteers to be "Connectors". By signing up for this program, the EEG Team will pair you with a Westminster College Student based on your mutual interests. As a College Connection "Connector", you would reach out to your student via your preferred platforms: handwritten letters, care packages, text messages, phone calls, etc. Interested in being a "Connector"? Contact Chris Clark or Laura Davis for more info. If you are aware of a High School Graduate who would like to be a part of this program, have them sign up here.

Adjustments to Our Current COVID-19 Protocols from the Westminster’s Task Force on Campus Use

Westminster’s Task Force on Campus Use makes the following adjustments to our current COVID-19 protocols:
  • We will no longer require registration to attend worship in-person. Feel free to attend as you are able! As always, please stay home if you do not feel well.
  • We have removed ropes from the middle two sections of the sanctuary to increase capacity. We will keep the two side sections roped for those who prefer to distance.
  • Masks are optional for fully vaccinated individuals. If individuals are not vaccinated masks are still required.
  • We will continue to use self-serve communion for June and July and will refrain from passing offering plates or friendship pads for the time being.
  • We invite you to begin using kiosks for check-in and nametags.
  • See you in worship!
