News - News, December

Worship Schedule Changes

Next Sunday, December 27 we will hold one service at 10am which will include a dramatic reading from Bob & Jean Boell and music led by Jon Frost on guitar, Glenn Kinckner on organ & piano as well as previously recorded clips of favorite Christmas carols.
Given the current two service schedule, and the overwhelming agreement from the congregational survey, Session approved shifting to 9:00 traditional and 10:30am contemporary, January 3, 2021. While we recognize this does not accommodate everyone’s preference, it clearly represents the interests of most of the members and participants. We will continue to assess our schedule in the coming months as we journey through this challenging time.

New Live Stream Bloopers!

Are you in need of a good laugh during this holiday season? We're here to serve with the newest edition of the Westminster blooper reel!  The bloopers included were either live, while recording parts of the service ahead of time, or during our tech run through which happens between 8:45-9:30am every Sunday morning. Enjoy the fifth edition of a few memorable Westminster bloopers. Click here to watch the other editions.

Home Team Update

National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day takes place on December 21st, which is, symbolically, the longest night of the year. Each year, the Decade to Doorways Partnership holds a memorial service in Chester County to remember community members who passed away while experiencing homelessness during the past year. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, you are invited to register and participate in this year’s virtual memorial at 4-4:30pm on Monday, December 21.

Thrift Shop News

Diane DeSieno-Lane steps down on December 31 as the chair of the Westminster Thrift Shop's Board of Directors to pursue a spiritual growth ministry journey. Diane has been board chair since 2012, becoming a thrift shop volunteer in 2009. The board expressed appreciation for her leadership and dedication at their December meeting. The last day to do your Christmas shopping at the thrift shop is Wednesday, December 23, closing from Thursday, December 24, and reopening on Tuesday, January 5.

K-Pod Recycling Project

The Imago Dei Youth and Outreach committees are partnering in a project to recycle used coffee pods (Nespresso, coffee pouches, or K-Pods). There is a bin located at the front entrance of Westminster where used coffee pods can be dropped to then be recycled and upcycled. Feel free to stop by any day of the week to drop off. Questions? Contact Chris Clark.

Fill Out our Congregational Survey

At this link you will find a brief survey regarding two aspects of Westminster’s life and ministry.

The first question is about when you would feel safe returning to in-person worship. We’d like to have greater awareness of the congregation’s thinking on this matter for the months ahead.

The second question is your response to a possible change in our Sunday morning worship schedule, as we consider moving both our worship services to a slightly earlier time in the morning.

We very much want to hear from you, so please take a couple minutes to click the link and respond. Thanks for your continued engagement in our common ministry!
