Update from the Music Director Search Team

The Music Director Search Committee (MDSC) is pleased to announce we are in the final stages of our search and discernment process for a new Music Director to succeed the recently retired Bob Morris.  Finding a new organist will be a first order of business for the new Music Director.
Early on, our MDSC worked to update the job description adopted by an earlier committee in 2019. We adopted forms and candidate review tools, posted the position to several church musician websites, created a process for reviewing candidate submissions, and developed a model for conducting initial Zoom interviews.
Our MDSC reviewed over 30 candidate applications and interviewed via Zoom a number of very qualified individuals. We invited several of the most qualified to visit Westminster, meet with MDSC team members in various settings, engage with the contemporary worship team, meet with both pastoral and program staff and lead a choir rehearsal with a small ensemble.
Our 9 member team is now engaged in a period of prayerful discernment where we will objectively review how each candidate measures up with our posted job description, reflect on the needs of our various choirs and musical ensembles and listen for God’s leading as we seek to reach a determination for which candidate we should recommend to our Head of Staff and Personnel Committee.
We are very grateful to the congregation for its continued prayers and support.
