Lift Every Voice Workshop Participants
Celebrate Black History Month with Elevation, an all-professional, intentionally diverse vocal ensemble performing the music of pioneering Black composers. Hailed as “one of the best listens you’re likely to experience this year or any” by Vents Magazine, Elevation will offer works by Kay, Franklin, Dilworth, Robles, Moore, and Bonds. This concert honors the Black experience and the artists who have transformed American music with their bold, joyful, and revolutionary compositions.
Led by nationally recognized conductor Arreon A. Harley-Emerson, Elevation performances fuse traditional, classical choral music with jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B, storytelling, and spoken word. Unique to their model and repertoire, they consider the vocal arts to be more than just singing and include the many ways the human voice is used in creative and artistic expressions. For this performance, they will be joined for a closing set of gospel music by participants in Lift Every Voice: An Intro to Singing Gospel Music.
