Children & Family Events

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”   Proverbs 3:5

Children and Families are encouraged to build relationships with Jesus and with other families in our faith community.  Family events occur throughout the year and are facilitated by passionate volunteers.  Some of the events that we enjoy together are listed below that happen on a regular basis.  Other events that we have enjoyed throughout the year are: Family Movie Night, Advent Family Fun Day, and a Lenten Family Journey.  We love to hear from our families and enjoy any ideas that you may have that would encourage community fellowship with God and your children.  Creativity and kids imaginations are a great way to explore what it means to be a child of God and allow the stories if the Bible to come alive in your family’s life.

Third Grade Bibles

We wish to encourage every child who attends our church to read the Bible, learn God’s truth and to be transformed by living out their faith. We acknowledge that 3rd graders are emerging readers, and therefore, we feel it is an appropriate time to present them with a gift of their own Bible. Having a Bible of their own that is written in kid-friendly language may enable them to question, explore and seek God’s answers to daily faith challenges.

Third Graders receive their very own Bible each fall in worship.  Each Bible is personalized with their name in calligraphy on the inside cover.   A parent meeting precedes the Bible presentation to help with the following questions:

  • When, where, and why we give Bibles to third graders?
  • Why did we choose this particular Bible?
  • What are the special features of this Bible that make it fun for kids?
  • What will my third grader learn in Sunday school each week?
  • How can parents support their children in using the Bible every day?

Family Communion Workshop

An interactive communion workshop is offered each year for children in Grade 2 – Grade 5 and their parents.  The workshop takes place prior to the beginning of Lent, in anticipation of children sharing the Lord’s Supper with their church family as we prepare for Easter.

Children’s Choir

Kids Jam Choir (Kids, Jesus and Music) - Grades 1-5. A program combining music and Bible lessons, songs and sharing, games and fellowship. Kids JAM choir sings and plays for worship throughout the year. They present a high energy, spirit-filled musical at the end of each semester (December and May). Rehearsals for the musicals are incorporated into the regular Wednesday choir program. Directed by Bob Morris and Glenn Kinckner, children will use singing, Orff Instruments, drums and chimes to learn God's message of love and salvation for all. Rehearsals are every Wednesday 4:30 to 6:00 PM.
