Most churches in the United States observe a four week season of Advent. Gregory the Great first wrote about Advent in the sixth century but it had been observed by congregations much earlier and with more variety than you may have imagined. This class will provide an overview of the history of Advent, examine the theological significance of Advent for our understanding of Jesus the Christ and the Kingdom of God, and introduce you to the ancient practice of an Expanded Advent.

DEC 11 Following the Star to Bethlehem
led by Allen Johnson, Ph.D., retired professor of Geology and Astronomy, West Chester University in the Chapel

Professor Johnson will share a presentation about when Jesus was born and what science had to say about the star that appeared at his birth.  Allen is a member of Advent Lutheran Church where he served in their Stephen Ministry as a Stephen leader.
